Various substrates were well N-alkylated in this methodology and the corresponding desired products were given in moderate to good yields. Moreover, the late-stage alkylation of bioactive molecules was achieved. This protocol involved C(sp(3))-N bond formation via a radical pathway generated in the presence of low cost and readily available heptafluoroisopropyl iodide (i-C3F7I). Generally, this reaction features excellent functional group compatibility, broad substrate scope, good regioselectivity, and fast access to pharmaceuticals such as SQ 22536.

Hierarchical SAPO-18 molecular sieve was successfully post-synthesized in the alkaline tetraethyl ammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) solution and hydrochloride (HCl) acid solution. In the TEAOH solution, preferential dissolution occurs surrounding the defect sites in a controlled manner, leading to hierarchical SAPO-18 with wellpreserved chemical compositions and crystallinities. In acidic solution, the dissolution is revealed to be sensitive to both the defects and the chemical compositions (selective dissolution of the Si-O-Al domains), which cooperatively contribute to the generation of meso-/macropores in the crystals. The crystallization of SAPO-18 precursor is thus inferred to proceed via an oriented nanoparticle attachment mechanism in the early stage. The twinning and intergmwth of nanoparticles occur in an ordered way, leading to the oriented arrangement of the crystallite boundaries. The defects located at the intergrowth interface are prone to acid/alkaline attacks, and play crucial role in the development of hierarchical pore systems. The hierarchical SAPO-18 sample exhibits excellent catalytic reaction performance in the liquid phase benzylation reaction of benzene and benzyl alcohol.

This review summarized the toxic effects of these chemicals from the aspect of human health and from the perspective of green products.

The Birch reduction is a powerful synthetic methodology that uses solvated electrons to convert inert arenes to 1,4-cyclohexadienes-valuable intermediates for building molecular complexity. Birch reductions traditionally employ alkali metals dissolved in ammonia to produce a solvated electron for the reduction of unactivated arenes such as benzene (E-red < -3.42 V vs SCE). Photoredox catalysts have been gaining popularity in highly reducing applications, but none have been reported to demonstrate reduction potentials powerful enough to reduce benzene. Here, we introduce benzo[ghi]perylene imides as new organic photoredox catalysts for Birch reductions performed at ambient temperature and driven by visible light from commercially available LEDs. Using low catalyst loadings (<1 mol percent), benzene and other functionalized arenes were selectively transformed to 1,4-cyclohexadienes in moderate to good yields in a completely metal-free reaction. Mechanistic studies support that this unprecedented visible-light-induced reactivity is enabled by the ability of the organic photoredox catalyst to harness the energy from two visible-light photons to affect a single, high-energy chemical transformation. Mesoporous TiO2(B) whisker was firstly applied as a support for synthesizing the novel sulfated solid superacid (SO42-/TiO2(B)). According to NH3-TPD, TG and Py-IR characterization results, it was found that the similar amount of sulfate group on TiO2(B) and anatase showed significantly different acid characteristics and catalytic performances. The total acid amount of SO42-/TiO2(B) was about 1.8 times as anatase-supported sulfated solid superacid (SO42-/Anatase). Simultaneously, the SO42-/TiO2(B) possessed higher percentage of Bronsted acid and more weak-medium acid strength than SO42-/Anatase. These acidic properties endowed SO42-/TiO2(B) with the increased esterification reaction rate and decreased alkylation byproduct selectivity compared with that of SO42-/Anatase. Structure-performance analysis exhibited that there were more bridged bidentate sulfate groups coordinated to the TiO2(B) in SO42-/TiO2(B), which could induce more Ti cations than that of the chelating one. This was the key factor to be responsible for the unique acid characteristics of SO42-/TiO2(B). The present work provides a novel solid superacid and might open a strategy to mediate the acid characteristic for sulfated solid superacid.

This report describes the syntheses of N,E (E = S, Se) coordinated bidentate palladium complexes, by the reaction of N-(2-bromobenzyl)-2-(phenylthio/selanyl)ethanamine (3, 4) with [PdCl2(CH3CN)(2)]. The new ligands and palladium complexes were characterized by techniques like H-1, C-13{H-1} NMR, IR, and elemental analysis. The coordination modes of ligand with palladium precursor in complexes 5 and 6 were authenticated by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complexes possess distorted square planar geometry around palladium center. Thermally robust and air stable complexes 5 and 6 were used as catalyst for regioselective arylation of imidazole and O-arylation of phenol. In case of regioselective arylation of imidazole, the reaction proceeds smoothly under mild reaction conditions, only 2.0 mol% of catalyst loading is required to achieve high yield (76-92%). This protocol is applicable to a broad substrate scope showing excellent tolerance towards different functional groups. Whereas for O-arylation of phenol also only 2.0 mol% catalyst loading is sufficient to give good yield (71-92%) with excellent tolerance towards a broad range of functional groups. Among sulfur and selenium coordinated ligands, selenium ligand coordinated complex, was found to outperform the catalytic reactions in both cases as compare to sulfur ligand. The mercury and triphenylphosphine poisoning tests suggest homogeneous nature of catalysis. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A new approach for the reduction of aryl ammonium salts to arenes or aryl silanes using nickel catalysis is reported. This method displays excellent ligand-controlled selectivity based on the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand employed. Utilizing a large NHC in non-polar solvents generates aryl silanes, while small NHCs in polar solvents promote reduction to arenes. Several classes of aryl silanes can be accessed from simple aniline building blocks, including those useful for cross-couplings, oxidations, and halogenations. A novel Friedel-Crafts-type alkylation of arenes to access valuable 1-fluoroalkyl-1,1-biaryl compounds is established under mild conditions. The key to success is the efficient generation of a destabilized benzylic carbocation intermediate via two consecutive single-electron transfer processes by virtue of visible-light photoredox catalysis. This unique activation pattern avoids using strong Lewis acids and high temperatures that are required for generation of destabilized carbocations in traditional Friedel-Crafts reactions. This protocol demonstrates the first example of photoredox-catalyzed heterolysis of electronically deactivated benzylic C-Br bonds for the formation of destabilized carbocation intermediates.

To investigate the status of organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) in indoor dust in China, published scientific studies were systematically collected and analyzed. The analysis revealed large variations among microenvironments, including offices (median: 14.59 mu g/g) and e-waste workshops (median: 13.36 mu g/g), with high levels of OPFRs contamination. Chlorinated organophosphate ester flame retardants (CI-OPFRs) were the dominant OPFRs (52-75%) in most indoor dust samples; however, in ewaste workshops, aryl- and alkyl-OPFRs were the most abundant. As an alternative flame retardant to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), OPFRs concentrations have increased in recent years in indoor environments in China. Urban sources are of greatest concern: Shanghai (mean: 13.54 mu g/g), Guangzhou (mean: 10.76 mu g/g), and Beijing (mean: 9.37 mu g/g) have high EOPFRs contamination levels in indoor dust. Compared to other countries, the OPFRs concentrations in indoor dust in all studied microenvironments from China (median: 8.81 mu g/g) were low. The estimated daily intakes of EOPFRs by dust ingestion for adults and children were 2.12 and 11.06 ng/kg/body weight/day (average), respectively. Human exposure to OPFRs through the accidental intake of indoor dust does not pose a direct health risk to the Chinese population. Analyzing of tumor markers has become an important means for cancer diagnosis and prevention. In this study, a novel solid phase extraction based on porous magnetic cyclodextrin polymer (MA-CD) was developed and used for detection of trace small molecule gastric tumor markers in urine samples. The adsorption properties of the magnetic cyclodextrin polymer were tested. Through experiments of the solid phase extraction (SPE) at the different condition, the optimal condition was selected to test the two tumor markers by High-performance liquid chromatography -Diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). The analytical performance of the method showed good accuracy (88.82%-104.34%) and precision (< 3.55%), appropriated detection limits (1.016 and 5.714 mu g L-1) and linear ranges (0.6-24.0 mu g L-1) with convenient determination coefficients (> 0.9994). The results demonstrated that the developed approach is efficient, low-cost for gastric tumor markers detection.
