Today, using new energy storage systems for peak shaving and load leveling with the approach of maximizing the efficiency of energy systems is inevitable. In the present study, a cogeneration integrated structure of power and cooling using liquefied natural gas regasification and solar collectors is developed and analyzed. In this regard, the purposes can be achieved by producing liquid air at an off-peak time and storing it as a cryogenic energy storage system and recovering it on-peak time. This new integrated structure generates 11.66 MW power and 4.502 MW cooling at the on-peak time. A Kalina-based combined cooling and power cycle and a gas turbine power generation unit are used to generate power from liquid air. Phase change material is used to store the heat from the compressed air entering the liquefaction stage (at the off-peak time) and recovering it at the on-peak time as the heat source of the Kalina cycle. Also, the solar parabolic trough collector provided with Zahedan climatic conditions the heat required for the direct expansion section. The electrical storage, round-trip, energy storage, and exergy efficiencies of the proposed energy storage system are 57.62%, 45.44%, 79.87%, and 40.17%, respectively. The most exergy destruction belongs to the heat exchangers section, which accounts for 50.85% of the total exergy destruction. One of the important results of the parametric study is the increase of round-trip and electrical storage efficiencies up to 47.59% and 61.60%, respectively, by minimizing the pressure of the inlet air to the liquefaction stage while maximizing the pressure of the liquid air inlet to the power generation stage.

Here we present a protocol for analyses of axon regeneration and density in unsectioned adult mouse spinal cord. This includes methods for injury and tracing of dorsal column sensory and corticospinal axons; clearing and staining of unsectioned spinal cord; visualization of axon degeneration and regeneration in cleared and uncleared specimens using two-photon microscopy; and either manual or semi-automatic analysis of axon density and regeneration in 3D space using Imaris and ImageJ software. This protocol can be used to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying nervous system degeneration and regeneration and to establish the therapeutic efficacy of candidate neuroregenerative treatments. Because tissue sectioning is not required, this protocol enables unambiguous evaluation of regeneration and greatly accelerates the speed at which analyses can be conducted. Surgical procedures take < 30 min per mouse, with a wait period of 2 weeks between axonal injury and tracing and 2-8 weeks between tracing and tissue processing. Clearing and immunolabeling take similar to 1-2 weeks, depending on the size of the sample. Imaging and analysis can be performed in 1 d. All these procedures can be accomplished by a competent graduate student or experienced technician. Novel catalyst systems based on CuBr2 supported on zeolite HY with a hierarchical pore structure have been proposed for benzyl butyl ether synthesis by the intermolecular dehydration of benzyl and butyl alcohols. Hierarchically porous P substituted HZSM-5 (H[P, Al]-ZSM-5-AT-0.05 M ) was successfully synthesized by isomorphous substitution method with introduced P atoms into ZSM-5 zeolite frameworks followed by alkali treatment. H[P, Al]-ZSM-5-AT-0.05 M was characterized by XRD, ICP-OES, SEM, FT-IR, N-2 adsorption-desorption, NH3-TPD, XPS, Py-IR, and TG-DTA, respectively. The surface area, pore volume, particle size and P/Al (molar ratio) are 328 m(2).g(-1), 0.23 cm(3).g(-1), 563 nm and 0.027, respectively. The catalytic performance of H[P, Al]-ZSM-5-AT-0.05 M in coupling reaction of methanol with 1-butene was investigated in the fixed-bed reactor. On the condition of reaction temperature at 500 degrees C under atmosphere pressure, the main product is propylene with the selectivity and yield of 33.7% and 31.0%, respectively. Hydrogen transfer index was calculated to 0.24. Moreover, its diffusion limitation was investigated with the self-etherification of benzyl alcohol reaction. The value of Thiele modulus (eta) and effectiveness factor (phi) are 0.08 and 16.9, respectively.

A broad spectrum of applications of magnetic nanoparticles leads to the need for the precise tuning of their magnetic properties. In this study, a series of magnetite and zinc-ferrite nanoparticles were successfully prepared by modified high-temperature synthesis in a controlled gas atmosphere. Nanoparticles with different zinc to iron ratios and pure Fe3O4 were obtained. The structure of the nanoparticles was studied by transmission electron microscopy and Mossbauer spectroscopy. These revealed the single domain character of the nanoparticles and the influence of the synthesis temperature and zinc to iron ratio on their shape and size. Chemical structure was characterized by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy coupled with an argon gas cluster ion beam (Ar-GCIB) allowed the study of subsequent layers of the nanoparticles without altering their chemical structure. This revealed the presence of a carbon layer on all nanoparticles consisting of capping agents used in the synthesis and revealed the core-shell character of the zinc ferrite particles. In addition, different types of zinc infusions in the nanoparticle structure were observed when using different Zn/Fe ratios. Finally, magnetic studies performed by means of vibrating sample magnetometry proved the superparamagnetic behavior of all the samples.

Raising the open circuit voltage (V-oc) of organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices is one of the key parameters to enhance performance and increase utility. We report an active layer composed of a quinoxaline-based donor polymer and an N-annulated perylene diimide (PDI) dimer which are stable and readily scaled materials and as blended solutions can be processed into films using non-halogenated solvents and slot-die coating methods. OPV devices with a highV(oc)exceeding 1.2 V were obtained under one sun illumination. Furthermore, the practical application of indoor light recycling is demonstrated, reporting a high deviceV(oc)of 1.1 V under LED illumination. Modification of the cathode interlayer or addition of a third component using perylene diimide (PDI) based materials is shown to further enhance deviceV(oc)under all operating conditions.

Diphenylborinic acid serves as a cocatalyst for site- and stereoselective C-H alkylation reactions of carbohydrates under photoredox conditions using quinuclidine as the hydrogen atom transfer mediator. Products arising from selective abstraction of the equatorial hydrogens of cis-1,2-diol moieties, followed by C-C bond formation with net retention of configuration, are obtained. Computational modeling supports a mechanism involving formation of a tetracoordinate borinic ester, which accelerates hydrogen atom transfer with the quinuclidine-derived radical cation through polarity-matching and/or ion-pairing effects.
