Despite the introduction of restrictive regulations in the USA and the European Union, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are still found in various types of environmental and biological samples at significant concentration levels. The presence of these persistent organic pollutants in the environment raises important issues because of their negative impact on immunological and neurological systems, and on the hormonal balances in living organisms. From the analytical point of view, the final determination of PBDEs would entail substantial challenges, because it would necessitate conducting the pre-concentration of analytes, or sample clean up. The aim of the present study is to demonstrate the analytical application potential of developed dummy molecularly imprinted polymers as solid-phase extraction sorbents for the selective recognition of low-mass PBDEs. The 4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl ether was employed as a dummy template of low-mass PBDEs. The developed types of the sorption materials were used in the sample preparation stage of the analytical procedure to determine the PBDE-47 and PBDE-99 levels in selected representatives of environmental samples reference materials of soil and bottom sediments. The recovery values of PBDE-47 and PBDE-99 from the studied solid samples ranged from 60% to 87%, depending on the applied DMIPs type.

Short-chain oxymethylene dimethyl ethers (OMEs) (molecular formula: H3CO-(CH2O)(n)-CH3, where n = 3-5) have previously been studied as diesel-like fuels and fuel additives. OMEs can be produced from sustainably sourced methanol, and tests indicate that they are neither genotoxic nor mutagenic. In this report, their potential as solvents has been investigated to expand the bio-derived solvent space. According to traditional solvatochromic parameters, a commercial mixture of OME3-5 and its individual components (OME3, OME4, and OME5) have solvation properties similar to problematic industrial ether solvents such as 1,4-dioxane. Peroxide formation, one of the chief dangers of classical ether solvents, was found to occur much more slowly in OMEs than in conventional solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THE), demonstrating an improved safety profile. The commercial OME3-5 mixture was found to be broadly miscible with organic solvents but immiscible with water, suggesting potential application in aqueous extractions. It performed well in the dissolution of polystyrene and removal of paints and coatings, indicating OME3-5 may suitable to replace dichloromethane in polymer recycling, polymer welding, and cleaning applications. To further demonstrate applicability as a solvent, this mixture was shown to facilitate a model Suzuki coupling reaction at rates similar to cyclopentyl methyl ether, which is currently marketed as a green ether. Finally, OME3-5 proved a suitable solvent for enzymatic polymerization, giving high yields, moderately high degrees of polymerization, and remarkably narrow dispersity values.

Investigating environmental pollution is important to understand its impact on endangered species such as green turtles (Chelonia mydas). In this study, we investigated the accumulation and potential toxicity of selected persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and naturally occurring MeO-PBDEs in liver, fat, kidney and muscle of turtles (n = 30) of different gender, size, year of death, location and health status. Overall, POP concentrations were low and accumulation was highest in liver and lowest in fat which is likely due to the poor health of several animals, causing a remobilization of lipids and associated compounds. PCBs and p,p’-DDE dominated the POP profiles, and relatively high MeO-PBDE concentrations (2′-MeO-BDE 68 up to 192 ng/g lw, 6-MeO-BDE 47 up to 79 ng/g lw) were detected in all tissues. Only few influences of factors such as age, gender and location were found. While concentrations were low compared to other marine wildlife, biological toxicity equivalences obtained by screening the tissue extracts using the micro-EROD assay ranged from 2.8 to 356 pg/g and the highest values were observed in muscle, followed by kidney and liver. This emphazises that pollutant mixtures found in the turtles have the potential to cause dioxin-like effects in these animals and that dioxin-like compounds should not be overlooked in future studies. Efficient oil adsorption and recovery is a generous universal importance for future energy demand and environmental protection. Adsorbents based on 2D flatland with engineered surfaces can overcome the limitations of conventional methods for selective oil adsorption. Here, we report magnetic hydrophobic/oleophilic graphitic C3N4 nanosheets that exhibit excellent oil sorption performance and rapid removal of adsorbed oil using an external magnet. Combining porous and nanosheets structure along with magnetic FeNi3 and fatty acid surface functionalization make the system an efficient adsorbent for adsorbing and separating crude oil from water. The graphitic sheets selectively adsorb crude oil with enhancement of thickness up to 9 folds and mass by 4.5 times than the pristine nanocomposite system. The smart adsorption property of g-C3N4@FeNi3 has been realized through comprehensive adsorption kinetics and inclusive isotherm studies. The nanocomposite can be further recycled and reused in an eco-friendly manner for oil adsorption and recovery.

Product Details of 101-84-8. I found the field of Polymer Science very interesting. Saw the article A New Benzodithiophene Based Donor-Acceptor pi-Conjugated Polymer for Organic Solar Cells published in 2020.0, Reprint Addresses Jin, SH (corresponding author), Pusan Natl Univ, Inst Plast Informat & Energy Mat, Grad Dept Chem Mat, Dept Chem Educ, Busandaehakro 63-2, Pusan, South Korea.. The CAS is 101-84-8. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Diphenyl oxide.

A new benzodithiophene based donor-acceptor pi-conjugated polymer (P1) is designed and explored as the photoactive donor for organic solar cells (OSCs). The synthesized donor polymer, P1 displays a wide absorption profile ranging from 300-750 nm with optical band gap of 1.61 eV and moderate ionization potential of -5.30 eV. It has good solubility in non-halogenated and halogenated organic solvents. Next, we fabricated OSCs with P1 by blending with PC71BM, the pristine polymer processed from chlorobenzene showed PCE of 2.79%. Upon addition of external additive diphenyl ether to the blend showed a dramatic improvement in PCE with maximum of 5.33%. DPE tailored the active layer morphology and showed two times higher PCE than pristine films. These results clearly indicate that the new polymer has a great potentiality for enhancing efficiency upon solvent additives, which will provide new routes for the development of new class of polymers for high-performance air-stable OSCs.

Aim: Organophosphorus compounds are irreversible inhibitors of AChE. Without immediate countermeasure, intoxication leads quickly to death. None of the clinically-used causal antidotes can ensure a good prognosis for any poisoned patient. When fallen into the wrong hands, organophosphates represent a serious threat to mankind. Results & methodology: Herein, we describe two novel compounds as unique merged molecules built on a tacrine scaffold against organophosphorus intoxication. These reactivators of AChE have balanced physicochemical properties, and should be able to cross the blood-brain barrier with a slightly lowered cytotoxicity profile compared to reference tacrine. Conclusion: Their efficiency compared with pralidoxime and obidoxime was proved against dichlorvos. [GRAPHICS] .

A series of (E)-alpha-silyl-beta-alkoxyvinyl-lambda(3)-iodanes was synthesized from iodosylbenzene, BF3-ether complexes, and terminal ethynylsilanes. The combined use of BF3-(OPr2)-Pr-i and benzyl ethers of primary alcohols (ROBn) allows the chemoselective transfer of primary alkoxy groups (RO) onto the beta-position of the terminal ethynylsilanes.

The coupling reactions of phenols and nitrogen hetereocycles with aryl halide were catalyzed by a highly active, readily available and easily recoverable heterogeneous Cu catalyst which was prepared by simply stirring an suspension of chitosan in solvent with copper compound. The result showed that chitosan@Cu2O catalyst catalyzed the coupling reactions of aryl halides with phenols and nitrogen hetereocycles to readily give the corresponding products in moderate to excellent yields. The highly active catalyst can be reused many times without losing its catalytic activity.

I found the field of Engineering very interesting. Saw the article A four parameter cubic equation of state with temperature dependent covolume parameter published in 2019.0. COA of Formula: C12H10O, Reprint Addresses Dalvi, VH (corresponding author), Inst Chem Technol, Dept Chem Engn, Mumbai 400019, Maharashtra, India.. The CAS is 101-84-8. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Diphenyl oxide

A four-parameter, Ghoderao-Dalvi-Narayan 2 cubic equation of state (GDN2 CEOS), is presented which incorporates the following: 1. The experimental value of the critical compressibility factor has been used as a fixed input parameter for calculations; 2. All the parameters (a, b, c, d) of CEOS are temperature dependent functions in the subcritical region and arc temperature independent functions in the supercritical region and; 3. A new a function is introduced with two compound specific parameters which are estimated by matching saturated vapor pressure at two fixed temperature points T-r = 0.5, 0.7. Our formalism enables us to cast three of the four parameters of the CEOS as a function of the remaining parameter. The proposed CEOS is used to predict properties of 334 pure compounds, including saturated vapor pressure and liquid density, compressed liquid density, heat capacities at the constant pressure and volume, enthalpy of vaporization, sound velocity. To calculate thermodynamic properties of a pure compound, the present CEOS require the critical temperature, the critical pressure, the Pitzer’s acentric factor, the critical compressibility factor, and two parameters of the alpha function. The saturated liquid density predictions for pure fluids are very accurate when compared with GDN1 (Ghoderao-Dalvi-Narayan 1), MPR (Modified Peng-Robinson), and PT (Patel-Teja) equations of state. Unlike MPR EOS, the proposed temperature dependent covolume parameter b in the present work satisfies all the constraints mentioned in the literature to avoid thermodynamic inconsistencies at the extreme temperature and pressure. Using van der Waals one-fluid mixing rule, the present CEOS is further used to predict bubble pressure and the vapor mole fraction of binary mixtures.
