We report herein the possibility to perform the hydrosilylation of carbonyls using actinide complexes as catalysts. While complexes of the uranyl ion [UO2](2+) have been poorly considered in catalysis, we show the potentialities of the Lewis acid [UO2(OTf)(2)] (1) in the catalytic hydrosilylation of a series of aldehydes. [UO2(OTf)(2)] proved to be a very active catalyst affording distinct reduction products depending on the nature of the reductant. With Et3SiH, a number of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes are reduced into symmetric ethers, while (Pr3SiH)-Pr-i yielded silylated alcohols. Studies of the reaction mechanism led to the isolation of aldehyde/uranyl complexes, [UO2(OTf)(2)(4-Me2N-PhCHO)(3)], [UO2(mu-kappa(2)-OTf)(2)(PhCHO)](n), and [UO2(mu-kappa(2)-OTf(kappa(1)-OTf)(PhCHO)(2)](2), which have been fully characterized by NMR, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Intermetallic compounds of Al and Ru are exhibiting promising physical and chemical properties, such high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. Compacted micron-sized Ru and Al powders or multilayer systems are usually the starting points for their synthesis. Nanoparticles are rarely applied in the preparation of such intermetallic compounds. Here we present the preparation of Ru aluminides starting from Al and Ru nanoparticles. Al particles showing diameters as small as 125 nm were synthesized via thermal decomposition of triisobutylaluminum in refluxing phenylether, while the Ru nanoparticles were prepared by thermal decomposition of Ru-3(CO)(12) at 300 degrees C in the presence of oleylamine. Both synthetic steps can be carried out subsequently in a one pot reaction and the resulting powders consisted of well-dispersed and intermixed Ru and Al particles. Upon thermal treatment of the mixed particles in an Ar atmosphere we observed the formation of multiphase products mainly consisting of Ru, RuAl, Ru2Al3 and RuAl2. The phase fractions were found to be dependent on the sample mass used for the reaction and the Al:Ru ratio. Ignition temperatures of the self-propagating reaction could be decreased to 300 degrees C in an ambient atmosphere. Accordingly, the preparation of Ru-Al intermetallic compounds starting from wet chemically synthesized Al and Ru nanoparticles was found to be readily possible, particularly under an atmosphere of ambient air.

A simple method for the synthesis of nano crystalline ZSM-5 and Beta zeolites with trimodal porosity was developed using starch coated silica nanospheres (as silica precursor) for generating interparticle porosity (50-200 nm); propyltriethoxysilane was used as an additive for generating intercrystalline mesopores (2-50 nm) in the presence of microporous zeolite porogen. Loading of starch and propyltriethoxysilane additive played a pivotal role in obtaining trimodal porosity with very small size zeolite nanoparticles having high surface area and pore volume. The possible growth mechanism for the fabrication of trimodal porous zeolite is presented. The resultant zeolite demonstrated excellent acidity and activity in the liquid phase acid catalyzed reactions such as esterification of hexanoic/oleic acid with benzyl alcohol, condensation of benzaldehyde and 2-hydroxyacetophenone, and Friedel-Crafts alkylation followed by ring closure reaction for the synthesis of vitamin E when compared to conventional zeolite with excellent recyclability. Such an economical starch mediated synthesis strategy can be extended to other zeolite frameworks and similar heterogeneous catalytic materials.

C-H functionalization at the alpha-position of heterocycles has become a rapidly growing area of research. Herein, a cheap and efficient photochemical method was developed for the C-H functionalization of heterocycles. Phenylglyoxylic acid (PhCOCOOH) could behave as an alternative to metal-based catalysts and organic dyes and provided a very general and wide array of photochemical C-H alkylation, alkenylation, and alkynylation, as well as C-N bond forming reaction methodologies. This novel, mild, and metal-free protocol was successfully employed in the functionalization of a wide range of C-H bonds, utilizing not only O- or N-heterocycles, but also the less studied S-heterocycles.

In this study, the influence of grapefruit seed extract (GFSE) was studied on citric acid and zinc oxide incorporated cellulose-based hydrogel films. The effect of GFSE (0.25-1.0%, v/v) on hydrogel films was examined for their physico-chemical, mechanical, thermal, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The swelling ratio, tensile strength and thermal stability of films decreased with increase in GFSE concentrations. On the other hand, elongation (%) and antioxidant activity of films were found to be 34-60% and 25-79%, respectively for increasing amounts of GFSE. FESEM and FETEM clearly showed that two different types of nanoparticles (50-90 nm and 5-10 nm) were present in GFSE incorporated films. The release of polyphenolic compounds and zinc from films was in sustained manner. Furthermore, the fabricated hydrogel films exhibited antibacterial activity against both E. coli and S. aureus. All these results indicate that the prepared nanocomposite hydrogel films could find their potential applications in wound healing.

Microtubule targeting agents represent a very active arena in the development of anticancer agents. In particular, compounds binding at the colchicine site in tubulin are being deeply studied, and the structural information recently available on this binding site allows structure-directed design of new ligands. Structural comparison of our recently reported high resolution X-Ray structure of the cyclohexanedione derivative TUB075 bound to tubulin and the tubulin-DAMA-colchicine complex has revealed a conformational change in the alpha T5 loop. By a grid-based computational analysis of the tubulin-DAMA-colchicine binding site, we have identified a new favourable binding area in the colchicine-site that was unexplored by our lead TUB075. Thus, based on a structure-guided design, new cyclohexanedione derivatives have been synthesized and tested for tubulin binding and in cellular assays. As a result, we have identified diphenyl ether derivatives with IC50 values around 10-40 nM against three different tumor cell lines and affinity constants for tubulin similar to that of colchicine around 10(7) M-1. As expected, they halted the cell cycle progression at G2/M phase at concentrations as low as 0.08 mu M. (C) 2019 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.

The important role of Benzyl ether

Bye, fridends, I hope you can learn more about C14H14O, If you have any questions, you can browse other blog as well. See you lster.. Recommanded Product: 103-50-4

Recommanded Product: 103-50-4. I found the field of Chemistry; Science & Technology – Other Topics; Materials Science very interesting. Saw the article Direct synthesis of hierarchically structured MFI zeolite nanosheet assemblies with tailored activity in benzylation reaction published in 2019, Reprint Addresses Liu, BY (corresponding author), Guangdong Univ Technol, Sch Chem Engn & Light Ind, Guangzhou 510006, Guangdong, Peoples R China.; Chen, HY (corresponding author), Northwest Univ, Sch Chem Engn, Xian 710069, Shaanxi, Peoples R China.. The CAS is 103-50-4. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Benzyl ether.

The MFI zeolites with nanosheet assemblies morphology were prepared by a seed-assisted strategy using specially designed bolaform surfactant [C6H13-N+ (CH3)(2)-C6H12-N+ (CH3)(2)-(CH2)(12)-O-(p-C6H4)(2)-O-(CH2)(12)-N+(CH3)(2)-C6H12-N+(CH3)(2)-C6H13] [Br-](4) (C6-12-diphe) as a structure-directing agent. The MFI zeolite nanosheet assemblies were composed of MFI nanosheets with randomly organized structure, exhibiting a narrow mesopore distribution. By tuning the Si/AI ratios of MFI zeolite nanosheet assemblies from 60 to 10, the morphology of resultant zeolites changed from nanosheet stacks to house-of-cards-like structures, and to nanosponges. In addition, the porosity and Bronsted acid/Lewis acid ratio exhibited a parabola-type dependence on the Si/Al ratios of obtained zeolites, indicating that meso-/microporosity and acidity of MFI nanosheet assemblies can be systematically tailored by changing the constituents of zeolites. Catalytic performance of MFI zeolite nanosheet assemblies was investigated in the benzylation of benzyl alcohol with mesitylene. The results revealed that MFI zeolite nanosheet assemblies exhibited extraordinary catalytic activity compared to conventional ZSM-5 zeolite. The conversion of benzyl alcohol and selectivity (1,3,5-trimethyl-2-benzylbenzene vs dibenzyl ether) of zeolite catalysts were linearly dependent on the 81-misted acid/Lewis acid ratio, and they exhibited a parabola-type dependence on the S-ext/S-BET, indicating that a balance between acidity and porosity of zeolites can be realized to modulate the catalytic properties of MFI zeolite nanosheet assemblies guided by C6-12-diphe.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are highly toxic organic chemicals. Lakes are one of the main sinks of POPs. POPs can be accumulated in multiple matrices in lake ecosystems and biomagnified through the food web, and thus pose a potential threat not only to lake ecosystems, but also to human health. Given their potential persistent risks, they have received much attention over the past decades. This review comprehensively summarizes the data on the levels and distributions of POPs in selected typical lake ecosystems in China and worldwide, involving water, sediments, organisms, and surrounding soils and atmosphere. It was found that current publications on POPs in Chinese lakes are mainly related to lakes in the developed eastern plain area, with only a few studies concerning the less-developed Qinghai-Tibet Plateau area. Similarly, around the world, there are more research on POPs in developed countries and less in relatively less-developed areas. Moreover, there are significant differences in the levels of POPs in different matrices in different lake ecosystems. Legacy POPs, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), were commonly detected and reported in different lakes, while emerging POPs like perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs), Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), and hexabromocyclododecane (HCBD) were relatively less detected or reported. A comprehensive summarization on the levels and distributions of traditional and emerging POPs in lake ecosystems could be significant for further understanding the behaviors and risks of POPs in lake ecosystems.

Herein, we conceptualized a transient mediator approach that has the capability of para-selective C-H functionalization of monosubstituted aromatics. This approach is enabled by in situ generation of a versatile sulfonium salt via highly electrophilic phenoxathiine or thianthrene dication intermediate which can be readily generated from its sulfoxide with tri-fluoromethanesulfonic anhydride. Preliminary mechanistic study implied that the remarkable para selectivity might be related to the incredible electrophilicity of thianthrene dication intermediate. The versatility of this approach was demonstrated via para-borylation of various monosubstituted simple aromatics combining the sulfonium salt formation with further photocatalyzed transformation.
