A new nanocatalyst, which combines the electrocatalytic activity of MoS2 nanosheets and RuS2 nanoparticles (NPs), was prepared through a safe and scalable, one-step bottom-up approach. Analyzing of tumor markers has become an important means for cancer diagnosis and prevention. In this study, a novel solid phase extraction based on porous magnetic cyclodextrin polymer (MA-CD) was developed and used for detection of trace small molecule gastric tumor markers in urine samples. The adsorption properties of the magnetic cyclodextrin polymer were tested. Through experiments of the solid phase extraction (SPE) at the different condition, the optimal condition was selected to test the two tumor markers by High-performance liquid chromatography -Diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). The analytical performance of the method showed good accuracy (88.82%-104.34%) and precision (< 3.55%), appropriated detection limits (1.016 and 5.714 mu g L-1) and linear ranges (0.6-24.0 mu g L-1) with convenient determination coefficients (> 0.9994). The results demonstrated that the developed approach is efficient, low-cost for gastric tumor markers detection.

Hierarchical SAPO-18 molecular sieve was successfully post-synthesized in the alkaline tetraethyl ammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) solution and hydrochloride (HCl) acid solution. In the TEAOH solution, preferential dissolution occurs surrounding the defect sites in a controlled manner, leading to hierarchical SAPO-18 with wellpreserved chemical compositions and crystallinities. In acidic solution, the dissolution is revealed to be sensitive to both the defects and the chemical compositions (selective dissolution of the Si-O-Al domains), which cooperatively contribute to the generation of meso-/macropores in the crystals. The crystallization of SAPO-18 precursor is thus inferred to proceed via an oriented nanoparticle attachment mechanism in the early stage. The twinning and intergmwth of nanoparticles occur in an ordered way, leading to the oriented arrangement of the crystallite boundaries. The defects located at the intergrowth interface are prone to acid/alkaline attacks, and play crucial role in the development of hierarchical pore systems. The hierarchical SAPO-18 sample exhibits excellent catalytic reaction performance in the liquid phase benzylation reaction of benzene and benzyl alcohol.

Phenol and its derivatives, which naturally occur in lignocellulose, can be considered as a renewable feedstock not only for aromatic, but also for alicyclic compounds, such as primary and N-substituted cyclohexylamines. So far, the latter are mostly produced from non-renewable starting materials like benzene via problematic nitration/reduction or cross-coupling routes. Herein, an efficient reductive amination of phenol with ammonia or amines is demonstrated, for the first time without the need for rare and expensive noble metals and without using any additives. Various supported Ni catalysts were screened and we elucidated the influence of the key parameters, including the acid-base properties of the supporting material. Acquired knowledge was then applied to different phenol-ammonia/amine combinations, resulting in the synthesis of various primary, secondary and tertiary cyclohexylamines in fair to very high yields.

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SPIONs) can be used as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) signal enhancement agents for petroleum exploration. This enhancement effect is uniform if SPIONs are monodisperse in size and in composition; yet it is challenging to synthesize mono disperse particles that do not aggregate in high salinity petroleum brine. Here, we report a method to synthesize individual SPIONs coated with tunable surface coating densities of poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid (pAMPS) with a catechol end-group (pAMPS*). To establish parameters under which pAMPS*-coated SPIONS do not aggregate, we compared computational predictions with experimental results for variations in pAMPS* chain length and surface coverage. Using this combined theoretical and experimental approach, we show that singly dispersed SPIONs remained stabilized in petroleum brine for up to 75 h with high surface density pAMPS*.

We report herein the possibility to perform the hydrosilylation of carbonyls using actinide complexes as catalysts. While complexes of the uranyl ion [UO2](2+) have been poorly considered in catalysis, we show the potentialities of the Lewis acid [UO2(OTf)(2)] (1) in the catalytic hydrosilylation of a series of aldehydes. [UO2(OTf)(2)] proved to be a very active catalyst affording distinct reduction products depending on the nature of the reductant. With Et3SiH, a number of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes are reduced into symmetric ethers, while (Pr3SiH)-Pr-i yielded silylated alcohols. Studies of the reaction mechanism led to the isolation of aldehyde/uranyl complexes, [UO2(OTf)(2)(4-Me2N-PhCHO)(3)], [UO2(mu-kappa(2)-OTf)(2)(PhCHO)](n), and [UO2(mu-kappa(2)-OTf(kappa(1)-OTf)(PhCHO)(2)](2), which have been fully characterized by NMR, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

To investigate overall pollution and potential risk of 32 targets (11 PBDEs, 8 NBFRs, and 13 OPFRs) in indoor and outdoor environments, dust and PM10 samples were sampled from non-occupational and occupational zones in Chengdu, China. Sigma Cl-OPFRs, BDE-209, and DBDPE were the dominant constitutes in both the non occupational and occupational dust. Regarding the PM10, no significant differences were found between the kitchen and the living room for studied OPFRs except TDCIPP, and TCEP, TCPP, TEHP, and TCP displayed significant correlation among the kitchen, the living room and personal samples. Profiles of the OPFRs in the PM10 from occupational areas presented great variation and ranked as: Sigma Aryl-OPFRs < Sigma Alkyl-OPFRs < Sigma Cl-OPFRs. The estimated daily intakes (EDIs) of the investigated FRs via dust suggested dust ingestion and inhalation were the main exposure route to FRs, and the total of EDIs were at least one order of magnitude lower than reference data, indicating a low risk for the general public in Chengdu. This study illustrated the pyrolysis of banana peel (BP) as a potential waste management solution. Samples were characterized through Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), elemental analysis, and high heating value (HHV) calculation. After pyrolysis experiments were performed at different heating rates (10, 20, 30, and 40 degrees C min(-1)) by using a thermogravimetric analyzer coupled with FTIR (TG-FTIR), the apparent activation energies were computed with Friedman, Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS), and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) methods, and the evolved gaseous products were analyzed simultaneously. During pyrolysis, BP underwent three devolatilization steps accompanied by the evolution of some major gaseous products, including CO2, CH4, H2O, CH3COOH, C=C, C6H5OH, HCOOH, and CH3CH2OH. Among them, C=C, CH3COOH, and CO2 accounted for approximately 71.56% of the total gaseous products. Gas evolution was more significantly influenced by the pyrolysis temperature than by the heating rate. Pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) analysis confirmed the presence of some high-energy compounds and valuable chemicals containing aromatic, aldehyde, ketone, and other functional groups. In terms of preliminary energy balance, more than 70% of the total energy output was attributed to the liquid pyrolytic products followed by the solid and gaseous products. The energy recovery ratio of BP pyrolysis was superior to that of other fuel feedstocks. This work provided insights into resolving environmental problems associated with BP management by pyrolyzing BP as a potential source of renewable bioenergy.

Here, we report on a reproducible one-pot synthesis of high-quality and monodispersed CdS semiconducting nanocrystals (NCs) by mixing precursors cadmium acetate and elemental sulfur into the new solvent system of dibenzyl ether and oleylamine without using any extra reagent or precursor activator. The NCs (5 nm) exhibited a dominant band-edge emission with a good photoluminescence quantum yield of 13.76% without trap emission. The CdS NCs were characterized using UV?Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The practical efficiency of the synthesized NCs was proved by applying the synthesized CdS NCs as the tracer in the engineering of an immunosandwich biosensor to evaluate the cardiac troponin (cTn) marker for the diagnosis and monitoring of myocardial infarction (MI). The biosensor revealed significant analytical efficiency with the limit of detection of 2 ng L-1 and the linear dynamic range of 5?1000 ng L-1, which is lower than the existing cutoff values (13?20 ng L-1). Having capitalized on the anodic stripping voltammetry method, the screen-printed biosensor could efficiently detect the cTn markers. Therefore, the biosensor is proposed to be used in clinical settings for fast, sensitive, and accurate monitoring of cTn markers.
