This study aimed to establish marine water quality criteria (MWQC) for emerging chemicals of concern (ECCs) for protecting aquatic life in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) of South China. Despite the frequent occurrence and elevated concentrations of these ECCs in the GBA, there is a lack of regional MWQC for these contaminants. We screened 21 common ECCs that were classified into the following six groups: (1) new persistent organic contaminants; (2) brominated flame retardants; (3) perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances; (4) pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs); (5) plasticizers; and (6) personal care products. Globally, MWQC for PhACs remain largely unavailable despite their increasing occurrence in marine environments. Using an integrative scientific approach, we derived interim MWQC for the GBA with specific protection goals. The approach described herein can be applied for the derivation of MWQC for ECCs and the establishment of guidelines for ecological risk assessment in the GBA and other regions.

Activated aromatics were reacted with two different fluoroidoane reagents1and2in the presence of triflic acid to prepare only thepara-substituted diaryliodonium salts. With fluoroiodane1the unsymmetrical diaryliodonium salts contained anortho-propan-2-ol sidearm, whereas the alcohol sidearm was eliminated to form anortho-styrene sidearm in the reaction with fluoroiodane2. Only the diaryliodonium salts containing a styrene sidearm were fluorinated successfully to deliverpara-fluorinated aromatics in good yields.

I found the field of Chemistry very interesting. Saw the article Selective hydrogenolysis of lignin and model compounds to monophenols over AuPd/CeO2 published in 2019.0. Name: Diphenyl oxide, Reprint Addresses Zhu, SH (corresponding author), Chinese Acad Sci, Inst Coal Chem, State Key Lab Coal Convers, Taiyuan 030001, Shanxi, Peoples R China.. The CAS is 101-84-8. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Diphenyl oxide

The mild depolymerization of lignin into aromatic monomer is a grand challenge owing to the various aryl ether C-O bonds, particularly for the most abundant beta-O-4, alpha-O-4 and 4-O-5 linkages. Rod-shaped CeO2 supported AuPd bimetallic catalysts fabricated by sol-immobilization method presented robust alloy structure, as evidenced by TEM, XPS, UV-vis, and CO-DRIFTS. For the hydrogenolysis of C-O bond model compound with formic acid, Au1Pd1/CeO2 showed about 23.5 and 6 folds increase in activity compared with its monometallic counterparts Au/CeO2 and Pd/CeO2, respectively. The outstanding performance was mainly ascribed to the increased adsorption ability of electron-deficient Pd for aromatic C-O bond. Additionally, formic acid-mediated Au1Pd1/CeO2 has efficiently performed hydrogenolysis of real lignin into a variety of valuable monophenols, achieving 44.1% yield at low temperature.

The Name is Diphenyl oxide. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of 101-84-8.

Pb-210-dated sediment cores and surface sediments from Lake Chapala (LC), Mexico, were analyzed to assess the temporal trends in concentrations and fluxes of persistent organic pollutants (POPs: PAHs, PCBs and PBDEs). Total sediment concentrations of PAHs (95-1,482 ng g(-1)), PCBs (9-27 ng g(-1)) and PBDEs (0.2-2.5 ng g(-1)) were indicative of moderate to intense contamination. The POP concentrations have progressively increased since the 1990s. The light molecular weight PAHs, and the prevalence of PCB congeners with low-chlorination levels (e.g., di- to tri-CB) and low-to medium-brominated (tri- to penta-BDE) PBDEs in most sections of the sediment profiles, suggested that these POPs have most likely reached these sediments by long-range atmospheric transport from distant sources; although the significant presence of heavier PAH, PCB and PBDE congeners in the topmost sediments, indicate that other nearby and local sources (soil erosion from the catchment, urban and industrial wastewaters discharges, as well as navigation) might have also contributed to the recent input of POPs to LC. Taking into account the relevance of LC as regional freshwater supply and commercial fishing ground, the potential risk posed by the organic contaminated sediments to the biota and human population should not be underestimated.

The objective of the study was to determine the human serum elimination half-life of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) adjusted for ongoing exposure in subjects moving from a higher exposure region (North America) to a lower exposure region (Australia). The study population was comprised of exchange students and long-term visitors from North America moving to Brisbane, Australia (N = 27) and local residents (N = 23) who were followed by repeated serum sampling every other month. The local residents were sampled to adjust for ongoing exposure in Australia. Only one visitor remained in Australia for a period of time similar to the elimination half-life and had a sufficiently high initial concentration of PBDEs to derive a half-life. This visitor arrived in Australia in March of 2011 and remained in the country for 1.5 years. Since the magnitude of PBDE exposure is lower in Australia than in North America we observed an apparent 1st order elimination curve over time from which we have estimated the serum elimination half-lives for BDE28, BDE47, BDE99, BDE100, and BDE153 to be 0.942, 1.19, 1.03, 2.16, and 4.12 years, respectively. Uncertainty in the estimates were estimated using a Monte Carlo simulation. The human serum elimination half-life adjusted for ongoing exposure can allow us to assess the effectiveness and reduction in exposure in the general population following phase out of commercial penta- and octaBDE in 2004 in the United States. Saw the article Bimetallic Oxide FeWO(X)Nanosheets as Multifunctional Cascade Bioreactors for Tumor Microenvironment-Modulation and Enhanced Multimodal Cancer Therapy published in 2020, Reprint Addresses Chen, Q; Cheng, L (corresponding author), Soochow Univ, Inst Funct Nano & Soft Mat FUNSOM, Jiangsu Key Lab CarbonBased Funct Mat & Devices, Suzhou 215123, Peoples R China.. Modulating the hostile tumor microenvironment (TME) rather than directly killing cancer cells may be an effective strategy to improve the therapeutic benefits in cancer treatment. Herein, FeWO(X)nanosheets are constructed as cascade bioreactors to modulate the TME and enhance radiotherapy and immunotherapy of tumors. Synthesized by the thermal-decomposition method and modified by poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), the obtained FeWOX-PEG with multivalent metal elements (Fe2+/3+, W5+/6+) exhibit efficient catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to generate hydroxyl radicals (center dot OH) for chemo-dynamic therapy (CDT). The generated high valence of metal ions (Fe3+/W6+) in FeWOX-PEG are reduced by endogenous glutathione (GSH), both leading to depletion of GSH and further amplified oxidative stress, and resulting in the reduced metal valence statuses (Fe2+/W5+) enabling cascade bioreactions. Such FeWOX-PEG bioreactors enhance the oxidative stress in the tumor and interact with X-rays, significantly improving cancer radiotherapy (RT). Furthermore, the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced inflammation caused by FeWOX-PEG in TME activates the immune system and promotes the tumor-infiltration of various types of immune cells, which working together with cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4) checkpoint blockade could elicits a robust immune response to defeat tumors.

This study reports the development of a continuous flow process enabling the synthesis of very small iron oxide nanoparticles (VSION) intended for T-1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The influence of parameters, such as the concentration/nature of surfactants, temperature, pressure and the residence time on the thermal decomposition of iron(III) acetylacetonate in organic media was evaluated. As observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the diameter of the resulting nanoparticle remains constant when modifying the residence time. However, significant differences were observed in the magnetic and relaxometric studies. This continuous flow experimental setup allowed the production of VSION with high flow rates (up to 2 mL.min(-1)), demonstrating the efficacy of such process compared to conventional batch procedure for the scale-up production of VSION.

Awesome and Easy Science Experiments about Diphenyl oxide

I found the field of Chemistry very interesting. Saw the article Synthesis and investigation of sulfonated poly(p-phenylene)-based ionomers with precisely controlled ion exchange capacity for use as polymer electrolyte membranes published in 2020. Recommanded Product: Diphenyl oxide, Reprint Addresses Rikukawa, M (corresponding author), Sophia Univ, Dept Mat & Life Sci, Chiyoda Ku, 7-1 Kioi Cho, Tokyo 1028554, Japan.. The CAS is 101-84-8. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Diphenyl oxide

To achieve precise control of sulfonated polymer structures, a series of poly(p-phenylene)-based ionomers with well-controlled ion exchange capacities (IECs) were synthesised via a three-step technique: (1) preceding sulfonation of the monomer with a protecting group, (2) nickel(0) catalysed coupling polymerisation, and (3) cleavage of the protecting group of the polymers. 2,2-Dimethylpropyl-4-[4-(2,5-dichlorobenzoyl)phenoxy]benzenesulfonate (NS-DPBP) was synthesised as the preceding sulfonated monomer by treatment with chlorosulfuric acid and neopentyl alcohol. NS-DPBP was readily soluble in various organic solvents and stable during the nickel(0) catalysed coupling reaction. Sulfonated poly(4-phenoxybenzoyl-1,4-phenylene) (S-PPBP) homopolymer and seven types of random copolymers (S-PPBP-co-PPBP) with different IECs were obtained by varying the stoichiometry of NS-DPBP. The IECs and weight average molecular weights (M(w)s) of ionomers were in the range of 0.41-2.84 meq. g(-1) and 143 000-465 000 g mol(-1), respectively. The water uptake, proton conductivities, and water diffusion properties of ionomers exhibited a strong IEC dependence. Upon increasing the IEC of S-PPBP-co-PPBPs from 0.86 to 2.40 meq. g(-1), the conductivities increased from 6.9 x 10(-6) S cm(-1) to 1.8 x 10(-1) S cm(-1) at 90% RH. S-PPBP and S-PPBP-co-PPBP (4 : 1) with IEC values >2.40 meq. g(-1) exhibited fast water diffusion (1.6 x 10(-11) to 8.0 x 10(-10) m(2) s(-1)), and were comparable to commercial perfluorosulfuric acid polymers. When fully hydrated, the maximum power density and the limiting current density of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) prepared with S-PPBP-co-PPBP (4 : 1) were 712 mW cm(-2) and 1840 mA cm(-2), respectively.
