4-Benzyloxyphenol (cas: 103-16-2) belongs to ethers. Esters perform as high-grade solvents for a broad array of plastics, plasticizers, resins, and lacquers, and are one of the largest classes of synthetic lubricants on the commercial market. Many esters have the potential for conformational isomerism, but they tend to adopt an s-cis (or Z) conformation rather than the s-trans (or E) alternative, due to a combination of hyperconjugation and dipole minimization effects. The preference for the Z conformation is influenced by the nature of the substituents and solvent, if present. Lactones with small rings are restricted to the s-trans (i.e. E) conformation due to their cyclic structure.Application of 103-16-2

Bisdemethoxycurcumin (cas: 33171-05-0) belongs to ethers. Esters are widespread in nature and are widely used in industry. In nature, fats are in general triesters derived from glycerol and fatty acids. Esters are responsible for the aroma of many fruits, including apples, durians, pears, bananas, pineapples, and strawberries. Because of their lack of hydrogen-bond-donating ability, esters do not self-associate. Consequently, esters are more volatile than carboxylic acids of similar molecular weight.Reference of 33171-05-0

To diminish chem. waste and improve the delivery of Curcuma longa L. The ME-23 without CL chem. constituents and ME-23-based CL extract inhibited NO production with an IC50 value of 0.0136 ± 0.0023%volume/volume and a curcumin IC50 value of 75.2 ± 6.7 nM, resp., and simultaneously lowered inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-1β production in lipopolysaccharide-activated murine macrophages. Authentic curcumin in ME-23 possessed superior NO inhibitory activity, which was 103-fold more effective than curcumin prepared in the conventional solvent DMSO. ME-23 was also capable of delivering curcumin into murine macrophages. After 30 days of storage in HDES and HDES-based ME, curcumin remained more than 90%. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major pathogen of nosocomial infection, which is resistant to most antibiotics. Presently, anti-virulence therapy and anti-biofilm therapy are considered to be promising alternatives. In the current work, we investigated the influence of bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC) on the virulence-related exoproteins and the biofilm formation using a reference strain and clinic isolated strains. Western blotting, quant. RT-PCR, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) release assay were performed to assess the efficacy of BDMC in reducing the expression of Staphylococcus enterotoxin-related exoproteins (enterotoxin A, enterotoxin B) and α-toxin in MRSA. The anti-biofilm activity of BDMC was evaluated through a biofilm inhibition assay. The study suggests that sub-inhibitory concentrations of BDMC significantly inhibited the expression of sea, seb, and hla at the mRNA level in MRSA. Moreover, the expression of virulence-related exoproteins was significantly decreased by down-regulating accessory gene regulator agr, and the inhibition of biofilms formation was demonstrated by BDMC at sub-inhibitory concentrations Consequently, the study suggests that BDMC may be a potential natural antibacterial agent to release the pressure brought by antibiotic resistance. The identification of the chem. compounds was performed by pyrolysis gas chromatog. with mass spectrometric detection. Paper/cardboard briquettes contain 119 compounds of biogenic origin derived from major biomass components and 53 additives. Additives are used both for improving the properties of paper and in printing inks. By burning the paper briquettes, the same 53 compounds from the additive group were caught in the deposits from the flue gas pathway, occurring in the range of 1-10% of the concentration of individual compounds (additives) contained in the input fuel. Compounds that are very stable during the combustion process have an enrichment factor (EF) > 30, which corresponded to approx. 3% of the additive capture in deposits. As a kind of biomass resource, lignin is the only natural renewable resource that can provide abundant aromatic compounds, which is undoubtedly considered as the best candidate to produce value-added chems. by lignin depolymerization Thus, it is of great significance to develop approaches that are able to accommodate the complex structure of lignin. Herein, an efficient depolymerization method is implemented in methanol using a mesoporous solid superbase KF/γ-Al2O3 catalyst. Research shows that the depolymerization of lignin is not obvious below the critical temperature of methanol, and the conversion of lignin increases significantly above the critical temperature, which can reach 60.6% at 270°C. Phenols and methoxy-substituted monocyclic aromatic compounds are predominant in the liquid products acquired by gas chromatog./mass spectrometry. Furthermore, oligomers were analyzed by time-of-flight mass spectrometry equipped with electrospray ionization. It is found that the mol. mass of the oligomers varied between 200 and 600 Da, the degree of unsaturation is mainly 4 and 8 with 1-2 aromatic rings, and the carbon number is found to be within the range of 15-30. The present work aims at developing a QbD assisted RP-HPLC method for the estimation of individual curcuminoids in Curcuma longa rhizomes along with its quality assessment. The quality of crude C. longa sample was evaluated with respect to physicochem., phytochem. and toxic contaminant anal. The ATP and CQA’s were identified followed by the optimization of the method by employing 22 factorial design. The concentration of orthophosphoric acid in aqueous phase (X1) and mobile phase ratio (X2) were selected as independent variable whereas, Tailing factor CUR (R1), peak width CUR (R2), Tailing factor DMC (R3), peak width DMC (R4), Tailing factor BDC (R5), and peak width BDC (R6) selected as dependent variables. The optimized chromatog. conditions were identified with mobile phase, Acetonitrile and Water (0.02%OPA) in the ratio of 55:44 with flow rate of 1 mL/min and detection wavelength of 425 nm. Further, the amount of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bis-demethoxycurcumin in crude C. longa sample was found to be 13.86±0.28, 10.98±0.23 and 9.32±0.20 mg/g resp. From the results obtained it can be concluded that the application of the QbD approach ensured the development of a more precise method that can engender consistent, reliable, and quality data throughout the process and also save time. Lower critical solution temperature (LCST) phase separation of glycol ethers for forward osmotic control was written by Nakayama, Daichi;Mok, Yeongbong;Noh, Minwoo;Park, Jeongseon;Kang, Sunyoung;Lee, Yan. And the article was included in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics in 2014.SDS of cas: 112-59-4 The following contents are mentioned in the article:

Lower critical solution temperature (LCST) phase transition of glycol ether (GE)-water mixtures induces an abrupt change in osmotic pressure driven by a mild temperature change. The temperature-controlled osmotic change was applied for the forward osmosis (FO) desalination. Among three GEs evaluated, di(ethylene glycol) n-hexyl ether (DEH) was selected as a potential FO draw solute. A DEH-water mixture with a high osmotic pressure could draw fresh water from a high-salt feed solution such as seawater through a semipermeable membrane at around 10 °C. The water-drawn DEH-water mixture was phase-separated into a water-rich phase and a DEH-rich phase at around 30 °C. The water-rich phase with a much reduced osmotic pressure released water into a low-salt solution, and the DEH-rich phase was recovered into the initial DEH-water mixture The phase separation behavior, the residual GE concentration in the water-rich phase, the osmotic pressure of the DEH-water mixture, and the osmotic flux between the DEH-water mixture and salt solutions were carefully analyzed for FO desalination. The liquid-liquid phase separation of the GE-water mixture driven by the mild temperature change between 10 °C and 30 °C is very attractive for the development of an ideal draw solute for future practical FO desalination. Starch isolation from turmeric dye extraction residue and its application in active film production was written by Maniglia, Bianca Chieregato;Silveira, Thamiris Maria Garcia;Tapia-Blacido, Delia Rita. In this study, we have isolated starch from turmeric dye extraction residue by steeping in acid medium (AS), steeping in water (WS), or steeping in alk. medium (KS) and assessed the filmogenic capacity of the resulting starches. We have also characterized the chem. composition, morphol., swelling power, solubility, crystallinity, and active properties of the AS, WS, and KS starches and investigated the mech., functional, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties of the corresponding films. The AS and KS starches showed lower apparent amylose content and higher purity, relative crystallinity, swelling power, and solubility than the WS starch. All the starches retained phenolic compounds and curcuminoids; their phenolic and curcuminoid contents were higher than the contents in the residue, especially in the case of the AS starch, which yielded films with the best antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. The AS and KS starches yielded films that were more resistant at break, less soluble in water, and less hydrophilic than the film obtained from the WS starch. Thus, submitting turmeric dye extraction residue to AS in ascorbic acid yielded a starch that resulted in films with good mech. properties and better antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, to ensure safe and prolonged food shelf life. This study assessed the pyrolysis liquids obtained by slow pyrolysis of industrial hemp leaves, hurds, and roots. The liquids recovered between a pyrolysis temperature of 275-350°C, at two condensation temperatures 130°C and 70°C, were analyzed. Aqueous and bio-oil pyrolysis liquids were produced and analyzed by proton NMR (NMR), gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and atm. pressure photoionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (APPI FT-ICR MS). NMR revealed quant. concentrations of the most abundant compounds in the aqueous fractions and compound groups in the oily fractions. In the aqueous fractions, the concentration range of acetic acid was 50-241 gL-1, methanol 2-30 gL-1, propanoic acid 5-20 gL-1, and 1-hydroxybutan-2-one 2 gL-1. GC-MS was used to compare the compositions of the volatile compounds and APPI FT-ICR MS was utilized to determine the most abundant higher mol. weight compounds The different obtained pyrolysis liquids (aqueous and oily) had various volatile and nonvolatile compounds such as acetic acid, 2,6-dimethoxyphenol, 2-methoxyphenol, and cannabidiol.
