Furthermore, we found that 5μM bisdemethoxycurcumin partially rescued vandetanib-induced mitochondria pathway-dependent keratinocyte apoptosis via activation of autophagy in vivo and in vitro, thereby ameliorated cutaneous toxicity. Conclusively, our study revealed the mechanisms of vandetanib-induced apoptosis in keratinocytes during the occurrence of cutaneous toxicity, and suggested bisdemethoxycurcumin as a potential protective drug. This work provided a potentially promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of vandetanib-induced cutaneous toxicity. Using steady-state spectroscopic and zeta potential methods, we have unraveled the interaction of the purple membrane (PM) and bacteriorhodopsin (bR) with various surfactants below their critical micelle concentrations We found that the charged hydrophilic heads of ionic surfactants play a role in perturbing the structure and conformation of PM and bR and that ionic surfactants of opposite charges cause opposing effects. Mixed strategy has been widely utilized to design novel membranes or tailor membrane structure, however the construction of facilitated transport membranes (FTMs) with mixed strategy has rarely been reported. In this work, eight kinds of mixed protic ionic liquid (MPIL) derived FTMs (MPIL-FTMs) were designed with mixed strategy for highly efficient ethylene/ethane separation by impregnating MPILs and ethylene transport carrier into porous support. The morphol. of MPIL-FTMs were characterized by SEM and AFM, and their mol. interactions were investigated by 1H NMR, FTIR and DSC. The MPIL-FTMs exhibited long-term stability and various ethylene permeability-ethylene/ethane selectivity combinations, which indicated mixed strategy could easily customize the separation performances of MPIL-FTMs. Moreover, a fundamental law for mixed strategy was obtained that the two parent PILs with similar chem. structure and mol. interactions favored the synchronous improvement of C2H4 permeability and C2H4/C2H6 selectivity. For example, the C2H4 permeability of the [BA][Pyr][NO3] derived MPIL-FTM reached up to 561.0 Barrer with improved C2H4/C2H6 selectivity of 26.7, which were superior to most of reported membranes, thus breaking through the ubiquitous trade-off effect. This manuscript reports novel study on preparing a biolubricant formulations as WCO-1, WCO-2 and WCO-3 by blending the curcumin extracted soybean waste cooking oil in three different compositions viz 10%, 20%, 30% volume/volume with the mineral base oil N-150. Curcumin was extracted as a natural antioxidant in 0.5 wt% waste cooking oil to inhibit thermal oxidation This study comprises a detailed anal. in terms of tribol., rheol. and thermophys. characteristics such as viscosity, viscosity index, pour point and flash point parameters of the biolubricant by standard ASTM methods. Further, tribol. and rheol. anal. was done by the four-ball wear tester and Anton Paar, MCR-72, resp. The thermophys. evaluation of WCO formulated biolubricant has shown excellent properties. The viscosity index of the formulated biolubricant increases with an increase in the concentration of waste cooking oil. In contrast, the pour point has also been depressing at lower temperature conditions. Thus, WCO based biolubricant was found to be more effective at extreme temperature conditions than the mineral base oil (N-150). Rheol. studies have indicated the non-Newtonian behavior of the biolubricant with an increase in shear rate. Whereas, tribol. anal. demonstrates that wear scar diameter has significantly reduced from 0.685 to 0.573 mm, and the coefficient of friction decreased from 0.117 to 0.080 with respect to the mineral base oil. A Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) containing NOZ cells (2000 cell well-1) and 1 (0-100 nM) was introduced into a 96-well microplate and incubated for 24 h to accumulate 1 into the NOZ cells and to multiply the NOZ cells until the cell number reached 104 cells well-1. After replacing the DMEM medium containing 1 with a fresh DMEM medium without 1, the plates were irradiated for 30 min at 610 nm. After incubation was performed for 24 h in dark conditions, the cell viability of the NOZ cells was determined using the MTT assay. The half maximum inhibitory concentrations 50 (IC50) of 1a-1d were found to be in the range of 33.7-58.7 nM for NOZ. These IC50 values for the NOZ were one hundredth the IC50 value (7.57 μM) for mono-L-aspartyl chlorin e6 (laserphyrin). Thus, it was found that the PDT activity of 1a-1d was much higher than the mono-L-aspartyl chlorin e6. Similarly, IC50 vales of 1a-1d for HeLa cells were found to be 27.8-52.5 nM. This showed that 1a-1d had high photodynamic activity in cancer cells. At the same time, it was speculated that an LED is a useful light source for deactivating the cancer cells because it can excite the sensitizers with peak width in their absorption spectra using the light of the specified wave length with band width of 10-20 nm; LEDs provide a homogeneous light distribution for the target cells.
