General procedure: A secondary amine (0.34 mol), sodium methoxide (0.35 mol), diethyl ether (600 mL), and methanol (90 mL) were placed into a 1 L three-neck flask equipped with a stirrer, a condenser with a liquid valve, and a gas inlet.
