General procedure: A mixture of Ni(cod)2 (0.050 mmol), SIPr·HCl (0.050 mmol),KOt-Bu (0.050 mmol), and CPME was stirred at 100 C for 30min. The aqueous layer wasextracted with Et2O and washed with brine. The combinedorganic layers were dried over anhydrous MgSO4. After concentrationin vacuo, the residue was purified by flash chromatographyon silica gel or preparative TLC to afford N-aryl-carbazoles 3.
