The mixture was cooled to 10 C. and aqueous NaOH solution (8.32 g, 208 mmol in 65 mL water) was added. The mixture was then stirred for 4 h at room temperature. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the remanence extracted with EtOAc (2×100 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated to dryness to give the crude oxime as a pale yellow liquid (12.0 g, 62%).
