The reaction mixture was filtered, the solid washed with carbon tetrachloride, and the combined filtrates were concentrated in vacuo to yield 2,3-bis(bromomethyl)-1 ,4-dimethoxy-benzene (26.8 g, 82.7 mmol) in 99% yield.
