After being heated at 100 oC with stirring overnight, the reaction mixture was cooled down to rt, diluted with water (20 mL) and extracted with EA (30 mL) for three times. The combined organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give 8-(3,4-difluoro-5-methoxy-phenyl)-1,4-dioxa-8-azaspiro[4.5]decane (1.57 g) which was used in the next step directly without further purification.
