The residue was purified by silica gel column (ethyl acetate/petroleum ether) to afford l-(benzyloxy)-4-[2-(2- bromoethoxy)ethoxy]benzene (6.67g, 76%) as a white solid. LC/MS (ESI) m/z: 350.05 [M+1] +.
