To the solution of 4-bromo-2-methoxyaniline (2.00 g, 9.90 mmol) and 2- chloroacetaldehyde (1.87 g, 11.9 mmol) in methanol (20 mL), was added sodium cyanoborohydride (1.56 g, 24.7 mmol) and acetic acid (0.567 mL, 9.90 mmol). The mixture was stirred at rt overnight, then was concentrated. The product was purified byflash chromatography (0-50% EtOAc/hexanes gradient) to obtained 2.20 g (59% yield) ofIntermediate 3 as a yellow oil.
