The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the crude material which was purified by column chromatography using silica gel (100-200 mesh) and 2% EtOAc-hexane as eluent to afford 1-bromo-3-(2,2-dimethoxy- ethylsulphanyl)-benzene (11.0 g, 36.038 mmol, 68%) as colorless liquid. GCMS: 277 (mlz).
