The reaction was then cooled to room temperature and the solvent removed in vacuo. The residue was then washed with saturated NaHCO3 solution and the organics extracted with EtOAc (3*200 ml). The organics were then combined, dried (MgSO4) and the solvent removed in vacuo yielding a dark brown oil which was purified by flash chromatography on silica eluding 20% EtOAc in isohexane giving the title alkylated ketone (15.97 g, 44%).
