General procedure: To a mixture of the benzyl piperidine intermediate 5 (200 mg,0.770 mmol) and potassium carbonate (266 mg, 1.93 mmol) inMeCN (3.0 mL) was added (2-bromoethyl)benzene (137 muL, 1.00 mmol). The filtrate was evaporatedin vacuo and the residue was purified by silica gel chromatographyusing 0-1% MeOH/CHCl3 as eluent to give 228 mg(90%) of the title compound as a pale yellow solid.
