In the presence of the diglucosylethanediamine I and CuI, aryl iodides underwent green Ullman-type coupling reactions with heterocyclic amines and aniline in water mediated by Cs2CO3 to yield N-arylated nitrogen heterocycles (particularly N-aryl imidazoles and indoles) and N-phenyl-p-anisidine.
